Leaf Expression Systems team presents work at ISPMF conference in Helsinki, Finland

On June 11th, our Process Development Manager Dr Nick Holton and Plant Research Scientist Dr Franziska Kellner travelled to Helsinki for the 3rd conference of the International Society for Plant Molecular Farming.

Dr Kellner gave a presentation on day one of the conference detailing our work on using our plant transient expression system, Hypertrans®, to deliver VLP vaccine products against Rift Valley Fever Virus that are both inexpensive to manufacture and capable of rapid surge production, as part of our grant from the SBRI and Department of Health entitled Development of Virus-Like Particles as vaccines against emerging viral diseases”.

Meanwhile, Dr Holton presented a poster (above) on our recent work around the plant based production of enzyme replacement therapies.

ESACT UK 28th Annual Meeting – 10-11 January 2018

Find us at the 28th Annual Meeting of ESACT – the UK Society for Cell Culture Biotechnology taking place in Leeds on 10-11 January 2018.

Dr Holton will be presenting alongside a range of other expert speakers as part of a diverse programme including sessions on upstream and downstream processing, product characterisation and analytics and cell and gene therapy. Dr Holton’s presentation on the scalable production of protein in plants will form part of the important concluding session – ‘into the future, into the clinic’.

He’ll be available to speak with you if you want to find out more about Leaf Expressions Systems’ technology and contract development work.

ESACT-UK – the UK Society for Cell Culture Biotechnology – encourages interactions between academia, government, policy-making agencies and industry. It promotes the sharing of knowledge and experience of scientists and engineers working in the area of cell culture biotechnology to help further research and product development.
